I especially like engaging with students and watching their confidence grow as they find that they can do well in difficult Math and Science classes.

While I have taught Chemistry and Honors Chemistry at the high school level, I enjoy the one-on-one interaction with students ranging from elementary to high school age. I tutor Math (elementary – Pre-Calculus), Science (Biology, Chemistry, AP Biology), Spanish (through Spanish 3), and Test Preparation (ISEE, ACT, SAT).

I graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Spanish Literature. I have also taken several university pre-med courses.

My areas of expertise are in the realm of mathematics and sciences, including standardized tests (HSPT, ISEE), Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Physics. When it comes to tutoring, I am a strong believer of making learning a fun experience and trying to bring in practical examples to help students grasp more difficult concepts.

Headshot of Tutor, Dianna

DIANNA

My expertise extends from mathematics up to Calculus, chemistry, and essay writing. I have a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from University of California, Riverside and am currently in the process of obtaining a Masters of Science from California State University, Los Angeles in Chemical Education.

I believe the most important part of any educational relationship is whether the educator cares for the student’s growth or their own personal benefit. And I believe the best kind of learning environment makes a student feel safe and understood while the educator makes an effort to teach beyond their designed curriculum.

Headshot of Tutor, Erica

Erica

I tutor students in Test Preparation, Writing, Reading, Language Arts, Success Strategies and Drawing.

My educational background includes a B.A. from Northern Illinois University and further study in creative writing at the Art Institute of Chicago, UCLA, and Bennington College Writers Workshop.

My experience includes successful tutoring of ADD-ADHD and Mood Disorder students. My students have been able to raise their test scores and achieve their academic goals. It’s my pleasure to help your students to develop a great college essay, or to come at any study or homework project from their own unique point of view (without sacrificing clarity, grammar, or attention to their teacher’s grading rubric).

Headshot of Tutor, Jose

JOSE

I’m Jose, a qualified physics, math, and chemistry tutor at Foothills Mathematics. I have a bachelor’s degree in physics from Cal Poly Pomona and am looking to put it to use through teaching full time.

There are a number of things that will make a student successful: the will, determination, and most of all the belief that you can make your dreams happen.

I believe that the best approach to building a successful tutor/student relationship is treat them as a family friend, ask them about their day and help them understand what they need to know.

Headshot of Tutor, Justin

Justin

I have tutored various subjects, math being my strong suit. I graduated from UC Irvine with a B.S. in Mathematics.

I love all sorts of math, ranging from algebra and geometry to calculus and beyond. I have always had a knack for helping people understand math, by walking them through problems step by step and correcting any mistakes made along the way.

Most of my tutoring is within the realm of mathematics, however I have tutored for chemistry, physics, ACT/SAT, and many more. I have a devoted dedication to my clients and I love to see students succeed. My number one goal is to help the student understand the subject matter to the best of their ability while making my approach efficient and thorough.
